Main Salon Steve and John inspected TURMOIL, a 209’/63.9m conceived as a true Expedition Yacht built at Royal Denship delivered in 2006. It is immediately clear, stepping aboard, that she is thoroughly well thought out. The owner and his Captain had spent 10 years cruising on their 151’/46m Palmer Johnson Expedition Yacht, also named TURMOIL, a smaller version of the 209’ Royal Denship, travelling everywhere. Forward Well Deck The 209’/63.9m TURMOIL was built ice strengthened with a substantial well deck forward for multiple large tenders up to 40’. I was impressed with the size of the heli deck (at least 5,500 lbs) including important, clever and ample heli fuel storage. TURMOIL is Lloyds approved and Cayman (pleasure) flagged. Heli Deck The interior is American Cherry, beautifully executed, in really good condition with overheads all over 7’. The owner’s deck, above the main deck and below the bridge is totally comfortable; its Sky Lounge is forward facing with plenty of elbow room and raised visibility. Owner's Deck Owner's Stateroom The lower deck has a variety of staterooms and a Conference room that could double as a Cinema or kids play room. There is a nice gym and hair salon for prepping for those tribal occasions in Bora Bora or Monaco. Gym / Hair Salon The engine room and tank deck are clean and are being properly looked after by her knowledgeable crew. The twin 2000 HP Cat mains have 880 hrs SMOH and they are currently upgrading one of their 3 - 215 KW generators to 250 KW to better balance their electrical loads. Four zero speed Quantum stabilizer systems improves comfort in all conditions. Laundry Room The laundry spaces are great, as are the galley and refrigeration spaces. So much of TURMOIL is so well thought out including proper separation between guests and crew. The crew’s quarters are finished in the same quality American Cherry as the guest accommodations with most crew getting their own cabins. (That’s also really good for crew retention!) New Hull Paint The exterior hull has just received new gloss blue paint from Rybovich which looks great. The transom door is enormous and has tons of toy storage in addition to the tenders on the well deck that looks appropriate for a Miami Heat sized practice basketball court. All the side decks have room for two to stroll side by side. Plenty of boarding ladders and passerelles are appropriately positioned. The Sun Deck is a world of its own. TURMOIL was thrilling to be aboard. She is, without a doubt first class and very capable of embarking on another world voyage in short order.
