Inace 112 Explorer Yacht "Fortrus" Completes Northwest Passage

 All Ocean Yachts is pleased to report that the Inace 112 "Fortrus" has completed the navigation of the Northwest Passage with many adventures along the way.
The Northwest Passage is the route across the top of North America. Running between first Greenland and Canada and then west around northern Canada to south through the Bering Strait between Alaska and Russia completes this historic voyage for "Fortrus". Departing New York, USA in late July of 2012, "Fortrus" made her way east across the Bay of Fundy and north around Novia Scotia for a stop in Halifax, Newfoundland and on into Arctic waters. Now "Fortrus" was in the land and seas of polar bears, whales and other Arctic wildlife! Nuuk, Greenland was the first port of call for exploration and fueling up. "Fortrus" used her tender "Scout" which would often go ahead for harbor entrances and other passage navigation just as the early explorers did.  "Fortrus" made her way to the northern reaches of Canada to see ice bergs and more fog along with sightings of Muskox and more Arctic wildlife. The steel hull of "Fortrus" broker her way through the ice safely without incident.  After stopping along the way to enjoy nature and local people alike, "Fortrus" made her way to northern Alaska for the runs to Cambridge Bay and other anchorages until Juneau, Alaska in October.  "Fortrus" had completed her Northwest Passage and was on the way back to the USA and the Caribbean via the Panama Canal for more adventures.
