At the Monaco Yacht Show:
More Scientific and Personal Submarines than Ever Before

BROKER REPORT: EXPEDITION YACHT SUBMARINES

DeepFlight Submarine Lake Tahoe Dive
Steve dove the DeepFlight Dragon recently in Lake Tahoe.
I'm especially excited about this week's Monaco Yacht Show because it's going to be the best year yet for scientific and personal submarines. More subs will be on display than ever in the Monaco Yacht Show's history.

Submarine dive Malta Sure, we've seen a sub or two at boat shows before, but here's my prediction: The big trend that every expedition-yacht owner will be talking about this year at the Monaco Yacht Show is personal submarines.

Scientific and personal submarines have come a long way. At first, the designs were driven by research needs, but a few years ago, companies like Triton Submarines in Florida and U-Boat Worx in the Netherlands started paying attention to expedition-yacht owners. Anybody who loves adventure yachting and exploring where no one has gone before knows the fun and life-altering experiences do not end at the water's surface. And once discovery yacht owners started asking about personal submarines, the builders started making the subs yacht friendly, not only for onboard stowage but also with features like spherical glass that gives you 360 degree visibility, not to mention air conditioned, surround sound, one-atmosphere comfort. Hang up your wet suit: You can dive in your Tommy Bahamas.

The new U-Boat Worx C-Explorer 3 submarine is a good example of the new class of personal submarine, and it will be at the Monaco Yacht Show along with the U-Boat Worx Super Yacht Sub 3. Triton Submarines will be displaying its 3300/3, which is slightly larger than the ready-to-dive Triton 1000/2 sub that I represent for sale in Florida. (Call me for a test dive.)

What do I think will be the most popular personal submarine at this year's Monaco Yacht Show? The new Dragon model from DeepFlight. This sub is aerodynamically based, so it looks and feels different from other personal submersibles. Expedition/Adventure yacht owners are going to go wild for it.

I dove the DeepFlight Dragon recently in Lake Tahoe (pictured above). When I boarded, I felt like I was climbing into a Formula 1 car. I could drive it. So could you! It's a really cool concept. The DeepFlight Dragon can go to 400 feet deep, and it can hover- so if you come across some giant manta rays, you can just hover and watch them or fly the seas with them. Amazing!
